The New HPS 300 metre Rifle Action and Trigger

HPS have developed a new centrefire action with a short bolt stroke.

The action is based on a modified RPA Quadlite single shot action but has been shortened to overcome the problem of bolt / cheekpiece interference on 3 position stocks. In conjunction with the System Gemini FR703 stock it now produces a rifle properly designed for the job, rather than a compromise.

The action has four locking lugs and a free floating ejector, activated only at the end of the bolt stroke.

Three alternative bolt stops permit the use of 6BR, 6 x 47 and .308Win cartridges with minimum bolt strokes to suit.

A Jackson CG Universal four lever trigger is fitted with trigger weights of either 500gm or 1.5kg as required. The finger piece may be adjusted forward and backwards and pivots laterally. There is a choice of two different finger pieces, one curved (shown) or another reversible version dished one side and straight on the other. The bolt stroke with a 6BR cartridge is 68 mm and with a .308Win is 80 mm. Note: Other centrefire actions have longer bolt strokes, such as, Grunig at 103 mm, Quadlock at 94 mm, Barnard at 101 mm and Musgrave at 109 mm. This represents a major step forward in 300 metre shooting.
